About Us

Our Mission

Red Cart Books was established in 2017 by Myriam Gaudet to save books from the landfill. Armed with nothing more than a love of books, a desire to share books with others and a pig-headed refusal to let books be destroyed, Myriam has worked tirelessly to redirect books away from the landfill. Joined by a dedicated staff and a supportive community, Red Cart Books continues to get wanted books into readers' hands.

At Red Cart Books, we believe books that are found in a community are a resource to be treasured and shared again and again rather than sent to the landfill or otherwise destroyed. We are on a mission to save as many books as possible.  Thanks to the enthusiastic response of the community, our collection of available books continues to grow. We currently have over 13,000 books in our store and  over 250,000 in our warehouse.

Our store is located at 812 Pitt Street, Unit 52 in Cornwall, Ontario.

We are always happy to hear from our customers: please send us an email or call us at 613-935-3711.

Our Collection

Finding suitable housing for our growing collection has been a challenge.  Currently stored on a farm north of Cornwall, the books are waiting for the next stage of growth: the building of a large book barn planned for this spring.  It will enable us to sort and shelve the over quarter million books currently in stock.  Unfortunately, until the new building is up, shelves added and books moved in, most of our current warehouse stock is unavailable.

Our store remains open for browsing. Requests will be filled when we locate the books in the store or the warehouse, or if they happen to come in. If you are willing to wait till the books in the warehouse are again accessible, we will continue to take requests and fill them as the books become available.

Thank you for your patience.
